Christians believe that to have faith  is to know Jesus as their Saviour or Lord.  You see when we have faith in the Lord we will know Him within our hearts or through the love of Jesus  we can believe we are a child of God.  One could say that Jesus is our Spiritual parent who will help us understand morals or to have good behaviour.

In Romans 3:22 it says, "God's saving justice given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe." (NJB).  It is awesome to think that by God's justice or grace people can be saved or believe in Jesus, which also can see faith grow within our hearts. 

Another scripture from the Bible is 2 Thessalonians 3:5, " May the Lord turn your hearts towards the love of God and the perseverance of Christ." (NJB) This verse indicates that Jesus has the power ( during prayer time) to change our hearts into receiving the love of God but also to know that Jesus has the perseverance or patience to help us to grow in faith.
